Non-Extensive Statistical Mechanics in Acoustic Emissions: Detection of Upcoming Fracture in Rock Materials

چکیده

Acoustic emission (AE), recorded during uniaxial compressive loading with constantly increasing stress and stepped increments until the fracture of prismatic marble specimens, were analyzed in terms non-extensive statistical mechanics (NESM). Initially introduced by Tsallis, NESM has proven to be an autonomous robust theoretical framework for studying mechanisms damage evolution processes experiments specimens made brittle materials. In current work, time intervals AE data are NESM. For each examined specimen, corresponding q entropic indices βq parameters calculated, their variability applied studied. Furthermore, a possible linear relationship between index parameter was examined, it investigated whether observed deviation from monotonicity may signal increased accumulation damage, eventually leading final specimens. Through this emergence additional pre-failure indicator (i.e., βq) alongside well-established ones can provide further insight regarding underlying crack development rock

Acoustic Emissions Produced by Discrete Fracture in Rock

An experimental programme was undertaken to develop a servo-controlled loading and high-fidelity data acquisition system to ~westigate acoustic emission (AE) waveforms produced during discrete fracture propagation in rock. Large (0.3 × 0.3 × I m) chevron-notched specimens were loaded in controlled conditions, and characteristic acoustic emissions associated with Mode I and Mode l l fracture wer...

Scale Invariance and Symmetry Relationships In Non-Extensive Statistical Mechanics

This article extends results described in a recent article detailing a structural scale invariance property of the simulated annealing (SA) algorithm. These extensions are based on generalizations of the SA algorithm based on Tsallis statistics and a non-extensive form of entropy. These scale invariance properties show how arbitrary aggregations of energy levels retain certain mathematical char...

Non-extensive statistical mechanics and particle spectra in elementary interactions

We generalize Hagedorn’s statistical theory of momentum spectra of particles produced in high-energy collisions using Tsallis’ formalism of non-extensive statistical mechanics. Suitable non-extensive grand canonical partition functions are introduced for both fermions and bosons. Average occupation numbers and moments of transverse momenta are evaluated in an analytic way. We analyse the energy...

Non-extensive statistical mechanics approach to fully developed hydrodynamic turbulence

We apply non-extensive methods to the statistical analysis of fully developed turbulent flows. Probability density functions of velocity differences at distance r obtained by extremizing the Tsallis entropies coincide well with what is measured in turbulence experiments. We derive a set of relations between the hyperflatness factors Fm and the non-extensitivity parameter q, which can be used to...
